What does our verticutting process look like?
The first thing we do during our verticutting service is pass our verticutter machine over your entire lawn two times; this machine will cut small, uniform lines into your soil that will improve the chances of your new grass seeds successfully germinating. Next, we will spread the grass seeds over your property. Because verticutting can also help to remove thatch buildup from your lawn, this service is especially beneficial for lawns with excess thatch or larger bare patches. The verticutting process also allows for better airflow and proper water absorption, which will assist your new seedlings in developing root systems more quickly.
We use premium fescue seeds to fill in your lawn.
During our verticutting service, we spread about 3 to 5 pounds of premium fescue grass seeds for every 1,000 square feet of your property. We choose to seed your lawn with fescue seeds because this is a cool-season grass that is commonly found here in Missouri. Other grasses that are often found in this area include Kentucky bluegrass and ryegrass, which are well complemented by the deep green color of fescue. Fescue is a naturally low-maintenance, heat-tolerant grass with narrow blades and a coarse texture. This grass is also known for its deep root systems, which deliver protection from environmental stressors like drought. By seeding your lawn with a grass type that is known to thrive in this area, your new seedlings will have a far better chance of successfully germinating and developing root systems.

The most important thing to remember is that it will take time for your new seedlings to germinate and take root in your soil. Until that happens, you need to try to stay off of your lawn as much as possible to prevent dislocating the seeds. You also need to change your watering habits; as soon as our team leaves your property after verticutting your lawn, you should water it thoroughly. For the following 3 to 4 weeks, we recommend that you water your newly seeded lawn regularly and keep it moist, but not soggy.
